Letter to the editor — August 23, 2016

Dear editor,

Must “growing the Farm-City Day Fall Festival into a premier event in SEK” depend on an outdoor beer joint? Isn’t drinking in public illegal? And what about the kids attending Farm-City Days?

Of course, if they pay someone money to say it’s OK (and call it a license) it’s OK? Not.

If they want to “enjoy a cool one” while listening to the music, why not a cool glass of lemonade? Or a cold Coke? Or a good ole bottle of cold water? Why must it be alcohol?

If the Council gives in this year, of course, they’ll want to serve alcohol at next year’s Farm-City Days. Then, what’s next?

No, let them keep their drinking inside and out of sight.

Bonnie Johnson,

Iola, Kan.
